Tayebwa Emmanuel’s goal officially Launches the 2024 Aja Tournament in style and high gear in the Opening game of Kijuguta against Upper Bugongi.

The game was played Yesterday at Kabale Municipal Stadium in Kigongi Cell Central Division Kabale Municipality ended in a win 1 : 0 in favour of Upper Bugongi with the goal of Tayebwa Emmanuel also known as Emma Boy creating the difference between the two rivalry Parishes both geographically Located in Northern Division Kabale Municipality.

The win of Upper Bugongi at the Expense of Kijuguta Parish Launched Aja Tournament in style as for the first time, The tournament changes the Mode of play from Division Competitions to Parish Competitions giving it a chance to extract Local talents from as far as at the Parish Level just like the aims and objectives of its existence.

Speaking to the Game’s audience, The Organizer and Chief Executive Officer of the tournament who doubles as the Former Kabale Municipality Member of Parliament Hon Andrew Aja Baryayanga said that the main purpose of the tournament is raise and give a platform for talent development in Kabale Municipality and Kigezi Region at large because this edition of Aja Tournament will also give a chance to four teams of Girls from Central, Northern and Southern Divisions plus One guest team from Kijuguta Parish in addition to other disciplines of Sports.

According to the Co-ordinator of this Tournament who doubles as the Kabale District Football Association Chairman Frank Mutaremwa also told the Stakeholders, funs and supporters of this tournament will guidelines as usual to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of the Tournament’s aims and objectives. A player who is born in Kabale Municipality has a right to play any team of his Choice and a team should not have more than three (3) licensed players of Startimes Uganda Premier League or FUFA Big League but those licensed players must be originating from Kabale Municipality plus other FUFA and FIFA guidelines that govern Football activities.

Chairman Mutaremwa further reckoned that the tournament is purposely focusing on talent development but not Politics just like some other people might think. We are here to play Professional Football like players who have developed from this tournament before and are now representing the region at International levels like Bobosi Byaruhanga and Paul Mucureezi. Because can easily help us to overcome the monopoly of team dominating the regional football and we have more competitors.

The Tournament which started yesterday will run up to 26th January, 2025 when the winner will be crowned as Champions and giving of various gifts and accolades to participants.
