The Kabale District Resident District Commissioner, RDC Godfrey Nyakakuma has Restored Hopes of Kabale City Status among Kabale District Leaders and Urged them to start Preparations for Boundary Demarcations.
Kabale District Resident District Commissioner Godfrey Nyakahuma has today confirmed the Government Program under the Ministry of Local Government of Elevating Kabale from a Municipality to a City Status Come July 2025 as it was passed by the Parliament of the Republic of Uganda in 2020.
Nyakahuma made this confirmation today during the first Council meeting of Kabale District Council for the Financial Year 2024-25 at the District headquarters in Rukiiko Hall at Makanga Hill Central Division Kabale Municipality. He explained that discussions concerning operationalization of Kabale Municipality’s City Status are History following the Government pronunciation about the next Five (5) Cities to begin next year including Kabale. He clarified that what is important now is for stakeholders to start chairing meetings to resolve Boundaries demarcation for the City and the remaining part of the District.
He further explained that since the Government has already pronounced their position on this it’s final, and said that now it’s the role of his office as a representative of the Central Government together with the District stakeholders led by the Speaker on proper and strategic City boundaries demarcation.
While appreciating the Good news delivered by the RDC Nyakahuma, The Speaker of Kabale District Council who doubles as the Female Councillor for Kaharo and Maziba Subcounties respectively said that there is need for a collective meeting between Leaders within Greater Kabale district, Kabale Municipality Leaders and Kabale District Local Government leaders to sit down and resolve all issues concerning City and the remaining part of the district boundaries because she said that there are some leaders with special interests who want to hinder the progress of the City on top of Imposing on them some Programs concerning the City without them not being alerted first.
