Siniya Alumni Collects Ushs. 70,780,000 as they Launch an Academic Fund Project to Support Struggling Students in the School.

A total of Ushs. 70,780,000 Million has been collected both in cash and pledges by the Siniya Alumni in continuous efforts of reviving the glory of Kigezi College Butobere with the launching of the Academic Fund Project.

The Launching ceremony of the Academic fund happened today at Kigezi College Butobere during Celebration of Siniya Day in Butobere ward Central Division Kabale Municipality. The Academic Fund which looks forward to collecting Ushs. 300,000,000 Million in order to support bright students Academically but struggling financially following continuous decline in the School’s Students’ enrollment.

The Chairman Siniya Alumni Counsel Elvis Twenda said that when he took leadership of the Alumni, The school had 120 students but worked hard and raised to 300 but later declined again after falling short of their objective following end of their budget from the money that had been donated to them by His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Counsel Twenda further explained that they are now focused on reviving their goal of Improving the Academic Performance of the students which will later act as a tool for bringing new and more students into the school following many cases of Private schools taking students from their in the name of giving them bursaries. However Twenda also expressed his concern over lack of title for some part of the School Land, and delay ed renovation works on the school buildings that are no longer habitable for students.

Representing the Prime Minister Emeritus of Uganda Rt. Hon. John Patrick Amama Mbabazi, The Resident District Commissioner of Kabale District Godfrey Nyakahuma thanked the Siniya Alumni for always supporting their School in times of Financial hardships. He said that the mitigation to support students from being taken by private schools through imposing stiff competition on traditional schools like Kigezi College Butobere, by stating that nowadays students’ enrollment matches with Academic performance of Learners in National Exams.

Nyakahuma further clarified that The Government of Uganda through the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development has provided Ushs. Three (3) Billion for the renovation works of the School structures and buildings following Ushs. 5 and 3 Billion that has been taken back to the National Treasury over delays in the Programs to have the ronovation work started.

The Chairman Board of Governors Kigezi College Butobere Moses Turyomurugyendo Ntahobaari together with the Acting Headteacher Justus Mastiko, All thanked the Siniya Alumni for their unwavering support towards the School’s Academic Fund saying that it’s the only way of reviving the School’s reputation in the Education field and in the Society it serves.
