Police in Mbarara City has Arrested 5 Suspects Over Street lights Vandalism.
Police in Mbarara City working together with the local leadership of Kiyanja cell and Mandela cell in Mbarara City have apprehended five suspects as on 31/07/2024 in connection with vandalism of street lights and national water equipment.
The suspects in Police custody at Mbarara Central Police Station include Price Ahereza 19 years old, Inton Rwamirama 20 years old and Amon Ndyamuhaki 17 years old all scrap store keepers from Kiyanja cell, Kamukuzi division. Plus Swamadu Kwikiriza 47 years old businessman and Edson Bainomugisha 33 years old scrap store keeper from Mandela cell Kakoba division.
Police was able to recover 14 solar batteries of 12 voltage, one solar charger controlers ,13 water meters, 34 taps/ joints,electric cables, electric meters and breaking implements all exhibited.
According to the Rwizi regional Police Spokesperson Supretendant of Police Samson Kasasira said that the Police is tracing for the owners of the scrap stores Tonny Ukasha and John BoscoNuwasiima who are stil missing at large in addition to working with the relevant authorities that include Mbarara City Council, National water and UMEME to identify the recovered items as Inquiries into the matter are still ongoing.
