More Three (3) Suspects Under Arrest Over Street Lights Vandalization in Kabale Municipality.
The territorial police in Kabale have arrested three other suspects allegedly for a number of cases in relation to the security lights solar panels within Kabale municipality.
The suspects are; Abel Rugasa Kahigi 18 years a casual labourer a resident of Kigongi “A” cell central division, Martin Ensinikweri Alias Muriro 21 years old a boda boda rider a resident of Kirigime cell Southern division and,Derrick Tayebwa all of Kabale district.
The three were arrested in an intensified operation on Monday the 23/09/2024 from their hideout adding on the five who were arrested of recent and are already in Ndorwa prison.
It’s alleged that, between the month of July and September 2024 in the areas of Makanga cell, Rwakaraba cell, Rushoroza and Nyabikoni, within hours of the night, in Kabale Municipality, these suspects and others already in prison, plus those still on the run conspired together and maliciously damaged 120 street lights and their batteries valued at 225,750,000/= the property of government of Uganda, specifically for Kabale Municipality.
The suspects have been doing this on several occasions and after the criminal acts, they go and sell the items in Rubanda district.
This vice has been on in Kabale Municipality and number of cases have since been registered at Kabale police station and their case file has been forwarded to the resident state attorney for perusal and legal advice.
According to the Kigezi regional Police Spokesperson Assistant Supretendant of Police Elly Maate said that, The scenes of crime has been visited led by the police, municipal officials and local leaders. The three suspects in police custody and efforts to identify and arrest others are still on going, until they are totally eliminated. As Inquiries are still at hand.
