Mita Engineering and Logistics Company Limited Resumes Rehabilitation Works on Noozi-Butambi Road.
Mita Engineering and Logistics Company Limited has today resumed rehabilitation and construction works on the 8.2 Kilo meters Noozi-Butambi road in Noozi Prish Rwamucucu sub county Rukiga district.
The road which starts from Rukiga district headquarters in Mparo Town Council Rwamucucu sub county connects the area to Nyamweru sub county in Rubanda district. Following a contract signed between the Ministry of Works and Transport together with Rukiga District Authorities early this year in January at a tune of 1.6 Billion shillings, for doing rehabilitation works on the road where the scope of work involved road clearance, heavy grading, putting first class murram, drainage and constructing permanent bridges on the road, up to now it has not been completed as per the contract.
However the Construction Company owned by the Former Public Relations Officer of the Uganda Electoral Commission Jotham Taremwa abandoned the construction work that was meant to be completed in a period of six (6) months. The contractor attributed the contractor’s abandonment of work to delay and failure by the Ministry of Works and Transport to pay them in time.
According to the Rukiga County Member of Parliament Hon. Roland Ndyomugyenyi Bish said that Yesterday, they had a meeting with the contractor and Ministry of Works and Transport concerning the Noozi-Butambi road and agreed that the Construction Company resumes work which has resumed again today. The Legislator also acknowledged and accepted that the contractor has not been paid but an agreement to resume work has been reached.
Residents from Rukiga district including Isaac Kariisa Collins, Kevin Brihamwe and Crispus Ainebyoona expressed their praise and gratefulness to the Rukiga district Member of Parliament for his tireless efforts to see that the contractor finally resumes his work for improved service delivery for the residents of Rukiga district.
