Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate Calls for Increased Security Vigilance ahead of the Festival Season.
The Police Spokesperson for Kigezi Region Assistant Supretendant of Police, ASP Elly Maate has called upon the General Public within the Region to be Observant enough against any threats to their personal security and security of their Neighbours.
ASP Maate made the call today during a Press conference on Matters of Security within the region and the neighborhood of the region ahead of the forthcoming Festival season at the Kigezi Regional Police Headquarters in Kigongi Cell Central Division Kabale Municipality. He explained to the Journalists that the Festival season is a very serious season that experiences many things such as Movement of people from Urban to Rural areas and vice versa and therefore called for increased vigilance by all the members of the Public.

He mentioned that some Places such as Markets, Bus and Taxi Parks, Churches, Supermarkets and many others tend to gather a lot of people and hence a need for more and increased Security conscience and vigilance so that each one of us can easily identify wrong doers planning to cause to our People by taking precaution safety measures seriously like providing enough security personnel in such areas, Security gadgets that is walk through machines and detective machines to prevent any intended threat.
However we also urged the General Public to take Personal safety measures seriously and immediately report any suspected elements in the society plus sharing any vital information in their reach with security personnels and more so work closely with their area Police and other security agencies for quick and faster address.
The General Public is also expected to adhere to the Road safety precautions such as avoiding over speeding, over loading , driving while drunk, Reckless driving and only drive well serviced vehicles and motorcycles. Also avoid displaying of fire wax in the areas of entertainment without permission from the Office of Inspector General of Police and those who do so after being permitted should not exceed Five (5) minutes and above all take personal responsibility of our family members and observing Law and Order in whatever we do because Security starts with each one of us and the Festival season is coming to pass.
