The government, through its officials, has commissioned the construction of new facilities at Kabale Technical Institute in Kabale Municipality.

The commissioning took place yesterday, Monday, at Kabale Technical Institute on the school grounds in Rutooma Cell, Central Divisionw Kabale Municipality.

The project, valued at 11.2 billion UGX, is funded by the Islamic Development Bank.

The contract for the construction has been awarded to Ambitious Construction Company Limited, with a completion timeline of 15 months.

The project includes the construction of an administration block, student accommodation, staff houses, landscaping, fencing of the institution, and extending electricity, among other works.

However, during the site handover ceremony, officials were surprised to learn that the multipurpose hall and kitchen, which were originally part of the contract, were excluded from the plan.

Kabale RDC Godfrey Nyakahuma and Mayor Sentaro Byamugisha revealed that they were instructed to demolish old buildings themselves to compensate for the construction of the kitchen and multipurpose hall, a task they have already completed.

In response, Hasaf Arineitwe, the Assistant Commissioner in charge of construction from the Ministry of Education and sports , reassured the officials that the project would be completed as originally planned.

He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to restoring the institute’s image and emphasized the importance of security in safeguarding construction materials to ensure quality work.

He also urged the local community to make profitable use of the institution for their own benefit.

Kabale Technical Institute, the only government technical school serving the greater Kabale area which includes Kabale, Rubanda, and Rukiga districts has faced challenges for over 46 years due to inadequate, dilapidated, and makeshift wooden structures.
