Four (4) in Police Custody in Kabale District Over Aggravated Trafficking and Defilement of a 16 Year old Girl.

The territorial police in Kabale have arrested four suspects allegedly for conspiracy to commit a felony to wit aggravated trafficking in children and defilement of a 16 years old girl.

The suspects are; Isaac Niwamanya aged 24, Provia Tukamushaba aged 54 the Aunt to the victim, Donato Akankwasa aged 55 the father to Isaac Nuwamanya and, Eric Akankwasa aged 40 the Father to the victim, all residents of Rwere village, Kyanamira sub county Kabale district.

It’s alleged that between 15/09/2024 and 19/09/2024, at Rwere village Kyanamira sub county Kabale district, the suspects recruited, transported and harbored the student victim who is under the age of 18 years by means of abuse of power or position of vulnerability for purposes of sexual exploitation, child marriage and other forms of exploitation.

The other suspects conspired to ensure that Niwamanya marries the victim and they agreed on certain terms and conditions that were set by the father to the victim.

Unfortunately, Niwamanya while at their place, started mistreating the victim, whereby she went back to her father’s place whom she informed about the mistreatment and how she was missing to go to school.

Then instead, the father in conjunction with his sister, the Aunt to the victim, assaulted her and forced her to go back to Niwamanya’s place which tormented her.

And on 19/09/2024 the victim pretended to move out to go and buy some household items where she escaped and informed a whistle blower about the mistreatment, and the whistle blower alerted the police.

Upon getting the information, police swung into action and arrested the four suspects and are now detained at Kabale Central Police Station.

According to the Kigezi regional Police Spokesperson Assistant Supretendant of Police Elly Maate said that, The scene of crime was visited and inquiries are ongoing.
