The Bishop of Diocese of Kigezi Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna has expressed his concern over continuous failure of the boy child to participate in Co-corricular activities in their Schools and Communities.
Bishop Akanjuna expressed his concern Yesterday evening at Kigezi High School Chapel at Rugarama Hill Northern Division Kabale Municipality, during a Dedication Service for Pupils of Kabale Preparatory School, Kigezi Primary School Lower and Students of Kigezi High School. He said that participation in those activities such choir, brand bass gives students self esteem, exposure and confidence, But failure to participate in them denies them an opportunity to learn how to express themselves in future especially when they appear for Job interviews. He went ahead and gave an example of Church Wardens in the Diocese of Kigezi 80% of them are Women and Girls.
The Dedication Service had 150 students for Ordinary Level Exams that is Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) , 250 students for Advanced Level that is Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) for Kigezi High School, 68 Pupils from Kabale Preparatory School and 71 pupils from Kigezi Primary School Lower.
During the same Dedication Service, The Bishop also Confirmed 79 Students from Kigezi High School into the Anglican faith. He told them that they are now planted in the Anglican Church and prayed for them to have a tap root in the Faith and Church, and called them to go and be witnesses of God in their homes and Societies.
Bishop Akanjuna further asked the Dedicated Candidates to be disciplined by avoiding bad acts such as escaping from school, misbehaving at times of meals and destroying school property. He emphasized calmness among them so that they can reach the time of exams when they are healthy, Because that’s when they will do exams and pass them and proceed to further levels of Education.
He explained that as Parents, they are highly anticipated for their success because their Success will be vital in developing the Church of Christ, their Families and the whole Country.
