The Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna, has warned youth across the diocese against drug abuse, emphasizing the detrimental effects it can have on their lives and futures.

He made the call today while preaching at St John’s Rusikizi church of Uganda parish in Maziba Sub County of kabale district, where 49 Christians were confirmed into Anglican faith. Bishop Akanjuna noted that drug use is becoming increasingly prevalent as many young people are drawn to the allure of substance use, which can have serious consequences for them.

The Cleric urged youth not to gamble with their future, stressing that the choices they make now will shape the lives they lead in the years to come.

He highlighted that such substances can hinder their ability to pursue their dreams and fulfill their potential.Bishop Akanjuna called for local initiatives that provide education on the dangers of drug use while promoting alternative activities that encourage personal development.

He also warned against the tendency of some people who encourage their friends to seek divorce at the first sign of difficulties in marriage.

He urged them to approach marital challenges with resilience rather than advocating for separation.
