Bishop Callist Rubaramira calls for Poverty Eradication in Maziba Catholic Parish through Pineapple Growing.
The Ordinary Bishop of Kabale Catholic Diocese Rt Rev. Callist Rubaramira has asked Catholics to stop the habit of giving Poverty a room and space for Growth and Expansion within their Communities.
Bishop Rubaramira made this remarks today during the Confirmation Mass of Over 200 Young Boys and Girls at St. Kizito Maziba Catholic Parish in Maziba Sub county Ndorwa East County Kabale District. He said every child whom he confirmed today, If they have a personal source of income such as a crop garden of pineapples, carrots, coffee, cabbages or rearing at least a minimum of Five (5) Hens, it would mark the end of a habit of them begging each basic need ” During our Schooling time we used to sell vegetables and bought books for ourselves unlike today where children wait for everything from their Parents, ” Bishop Rubaramira said.
The Bishop also said that he will get time and visit all the Catechists and see what they are doing to eradicate poverty, and inspect all pineapple plantations they have grown on the Parish Land. He said that they need to keep and protect their Spiritual lives but they can only be kept in a healthy body through utilizing their land to grow enough food for their dirty. ” Someone who is sick cannot go to Church on Sunday for Prayers. “
Speaking to the Congregation, The Parish Priest of Maziba Catholic Parish Rev. Fr. Ignatius Mbabazi emphasized that Catholics should work hard for Development and Education of their Children which will lead to growth of their Parish on top of their love for their Parish and the Catholic Faith.
Addressing the congregation too, The Chairperson of Works and Development for Maziba Catholic Parish who doubles as the Ndorwa East County Member of Parliament Hon Wilfred Nuwagaba appealed to all the residents of Ndorwa East who missed the Government program of National Identity Cards, IDs registration that was done in a hurry process to embark on it again following his appeal to the Resident District Commissioner of Kabale Mr Godfrey Nyakahuma together with the head of National Identification Registration Authority, NIRA in Kabale District. He explained that missing such an opportunity will deny them many rights as citizens of this country with effect from next year such as voting for their leaders.
The Chief Whip for Parliamentarians of Kigezi Region who belong to the National Resistance Movement Party, NRM who doubles as the Kabale District Woman Member of Parliament Hon Catherine Atwakyire Ndamira also reminded Parents about their responsibility of protecting their children who are in the Vacation Season after finishing their National Examinations at the Primary and Ordinary Levels of Education. He told Parents that only children who will be safe by next year will get the opportunity of joining the next levels of Education they qualify for.
