Police in Rubanda District is hunting for 14 Prisoners who escaped from the Police Cells on Sunday night in Rubanda District.

The suspects escaped on Sunday from the Police in Rubanda District on Sunday night under circumstances that are still under investigations to know the exact root cause of the challenge which might have resulted into case of escapism by Prisoners.

According to the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson Assistant Supretendant of Police Elly Maate confirmed the occurrence of the incident and also acknowledged that as Police they are still doing investigations to come out with a real root cause and then tress the escapees to face the legal arm ot the Law on additional charges of escaping from Police Custody however he also confirmed that two (2) have already been recaptured back to the Police Custody.

ASP Maate also noted with dismay that, The Newly established districts within the region that is Rukiga and Rubanda lack enough Facilities and offices such as the Office of Public Prosecutions and Judiciary to handle such matters from their places of occurrence but the Stakeholders from both the Police and Judiciary are working hard hand in hand to have this challenge solved once and for all.
