A 46 Years Old Man Killed by Mob Over Suspected Pig Theft in Rukungiri District.
The territorial police in Rukungiri are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 46 Years old Nelson Arinaitwe Alias Kidudu a resident of Rugoma cell Ruyonza parish Nyarushanje sub county Rukungiri district.
It’s alleged that on the 06/09/2024 during the night hours, at Katungu cell, Kahoko parish, Nyakishenyi sub county, an unknown person(s) stole Mutesigensi Saini’s pig. When he realized the theft, he put announcements on Radio Boona as he continued tracing for his stolen pig.
That, on 26/09/2024 at around 3 pm, the area LC3 councillor for Ruyonja parish, Nyarushanje sub county rang Mutesigensi informing him that his pig was found in possession of Arinaitwe Nelson alias Kidudu.
He (mutesigensi saini) rushed to the scene in Rugoma cell where he found him tied with ropes and seriously beaten. He was lying besides the pig (exhibit) at Omukarere trading centre.
He was then escorted to Rubabo police station along with the pig (exhibit). The Officer in Charge station of Rubabo upon realizing the health of the suspect, took him to God’s care centre clinic where he was shortly pronounced dead.
According to the Kigezi regional Police Spokesperson Assistant Supretendant of Police Elly Maate said that, The scene was visited and documented, Under Rukungiri CRB 256/2024 statements recorded from relevant witnesses and the body was conveyed to Rwakabengo HC3 Mortuary for postmortem. As Inquiries are still at hand.
