A 40 Years Old Man in Kanungu District was Knocked down by an Over speeding Motor vehicle and died on Spot.
The territorial police in Kanungu are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 40 years old Edson Kayakole a resident of Katete in Kanungu district, who is alleged to have been knocked by a speeding car Reg no UBJ100J Hillux double cabin that belongs to Kedifise bank Kanungu branch.
This incident occured on the 15/09/2024 at around 7 : 30 pm at Kabashaki cell along Kanungu Kihihi road in Kirima sub county. It’s alleged that on the 15/09/2024, the deceased left his home in Katete sub county to Mitoma district to pay a visit to a friend known as Sabiti.
And that at around 6 pm, he disappeared from Sabiti to an unknown destination and at around 7 : 30 pm, while drunk in the middle of the road, he was knocked by a speeding vehicle and sustained injuries. He was rushed to Katate health center IV where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
According to the Kigezi regional Police Spokesperson Assistant Supretendant of Police Elly Maate said that, Police were alerted on the 16/09/2024 by Habib Twaha Mukwatangabo, an employee of Kidefise bank, the scene was visited and documented, Motor Vehicle was impounded for further investigations, while the driver is on the run and being hunted. Postmortem was conducted & body handed over to relatives for a decent burial.
