Christians warned against personal churches, rumor-mongering
Christians of St. Andrew’s Church of Uganda in All Saints Archdeaconry in Kabale Municipality have been called upon to desist from personal churches that have no future.
The message was delivered by the Archdeacon of All Saints Archdeaconry in Kabale Municipality, Venerable Emmanuel Namanya Bwagye, during his sermon at the installation of Reverend Robert Kabagambe as the Parish Priest of St. Andrew’s Nyabikoni Church of Uganda Parish. He said that some misled Christians have taken it upon themselves to continue misleading the flock of God in the Anglican Church of Uganda to the so-called “Reformed Anglican Church of Uganda,” which he said is only reformed in words but not in actions, as it continues to use the same articles of faith as the Anglican Church, such as prayer and hymn books.
Archdeacon Namanya further urged the Christians to avoid rumor-mongering against the clergy, but to emphasize love among the clergy and Christians and also to be prayer-centered to ensure the fulfillment of Christ’s mission of evangelism by quoting John’s first letter, 3:13-24, which says that “he who has no love in him is like a murderer and has no eternal life.”
He also cautioned the incoming Parish Priest, Reverend Kabagambe, to be mindful of his family amidst the fulfillment of church duties. He clearly explained that having a peaceful family is the basis for fulfilling church obligations and serving the flock of God to their expectations, as he can more easily overcome temptations such as adultery.
