Kabale University Confers it’s First PHD Degrees with 55 Students attaining First Class Degrees in the 9th Edition Epic Historic Function as 1660 Students graduate today in various Academic Disciples Offered at the University.
The Two students that have graduated with PHD Degrees are and have fully pursued their studies of Doctorate in Business Administration are Caroline Murezi Mastiko and Paul Turyahebwa.
Addressing Graduands and the congregation, The Chancellor Kabale University Prof. George Mondo Kagonyera thanked Parents for investing in the Education of their Children. He said that ” this has enabled them to acquire Knowledge the only solution to challenges affecting our society such as Climate change and solving the issue of Unemployment among the graduates due to Artificial Intelligence, AI. ” Ignorance is the only cause of the challenges that we encounter today and studying to acquire Knowledge is the only solution to it.
During the Graduation function, The Chairperson University Council Hon. Adson Kakuru also expressed his concern over Inadequate funding that doesn’t meet the rapid increase in population of Students’ enrollment and staff members calling for an increase in funding from the Government. He said that the current enrollment of fully registered students stand at 6,448 and Staff for is 514 Members.
Speaking to the Congregation too, The Vice Chancellor Kabale University Prof. Joy Kwesiga said that as University Leaders, they are working hard to improve and boost Academic Excellence at the University through introduction of Academic Programs such as Masters of Science in Accounting and Finance, Masters of Science of Civil Engineering, Masters of Science in Applied Spatial Science, Doctor of Philosophy in Health Sciences, Bachelor of Midwifery both Direct Entry and Completion Programs, Bachelor of Industrial Engineering, Bachelor of Environmental Engineering and Bachelor of Surveying and Geomatics Engineering.
Prof. Kwesiga also explained that the University has also put focus and emphasis on Research and Innovation such as selection to protect Papyrus Endemic Biodiversity in Uganda in Partnership with Biodiversity Foundation and the University of Exeter and Strengthening of Smallholder Farmer Resilience to Climate Change through Joint learning, Development and Evaluation of Contextualized solutions, A case of Uganda. The Rwenzori and Kigezi highland regions of Uganda. (SFR2CC) in Collaboration with Mountains of the Moon University.
The Graduation function happened today at the Campus Premises at Kiku giri Hill in Southern Division Kabale Municipality, And it was attended by so many dignitaries including the Kabale District Woman Member of Parliament Hon. Catherine Atwakyire Ndamira, Kabale District Resident District Commissioner Godfrey Nyakahuma, Deputy and Assistant Resident District Commissioners from all the Districts of Kigezi Region.
