Minister Musasizi Attributes Delays in Road Construction Works within Kigezi Region to Incompetent Contractors given Contracts by the Government of Uganda Unknowingly.

State Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development in charge of General Duties Hon. Henry Musasizi Ariganyira has attributed the delays in road constructions within various parts of Kigezi region to incompetent Contractors who were given Contracts by the Government Unknowingly.

Minister Musasizi who doubles as the Rubanda East County Member of Parliament stated, while responding to reactions of the congregation of the Annex 2 Programme for the Local Government Budget Consultative Workshop for the Financial Year 2025-26 at Agaba Center Kigongi Cell Central Division Kabale Municipality. He said that roads such as Nozi-Butambi road in Rukiga and the Eight (8) Kilo metre Bunyonyi road are hindered by incompetent Contractors but the Government through the Ministry of Works and Transport, they are handling it at a technical level. He also gave an update on the Kisoro-Mgahinga Tourism road was hindered by a change in the design of the road but confirmed that the Uganada National Roads Authority, UNRA is working on it.

The Minister’s Explaination came after the concern of road construction work abandonment by Contractors raised by the Rukiga District Chairperson Hon. Robert Mbabazi Kakwerere. He said that Contractor of Nozi-Butambi road abandoned his work after a contract of worth Ushs. 2.2Bn was signed.

Minister Musasizi urged the to fully monitirize Government Programs with the readily available resources as more will come depending on the growth of The Country’s Economy but focusing on allocating resources from the sectors where they are not most needed to where they are most needed.

The Annex 2 Programme for the Local government Budget Consultative Workshop for the Financial Year 2025-26 has been attended by Employees from Various Local Governments in the Districts of Kisoro, Rukiga, Rubanda, Kanungu and Kabale which was hosting the function.
