Kabale District RDC Godfrey Nyakahuma has Issued a Stern Warning to Parish Development Committees and SACCOs against Money Extortion from the Beneficiaries.
The Kabale Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Godfrey Nyakahuma issued a stern warning to leaders of Parish Development Committees (PDMCs) and parish development SACCOs against extorting money from beneficiaries.
He issued this warning yesterday during a meeting held at Kabale Rukiiko Hall Makanga, Kabale District headquarters, where Nyakahuma met with leaders of sub-counties, district security officers, and parish leaders of Kabale District.
According to RDC Nyakahuma, some PDMC and parish development SACCO leaders have been charging beneficiaries exorbitant fees, ranging from UGX 50,000 to UGX 100,000. Those who fail to pay are removed from the list of recipients and replaced by others who have paid the bribes. He stressed that such actions are not only unethical but also illegal.
Nyakahuma called upon political leaders to join him in rooting out corruption within the Parish Development Model (PDM), emphasizing that all beneficiaries must be selected fairly and funds distributed transparently.
He pointed out that some beneficiaries who had been approved to receive money were being unfairly removed from the lists by corrupt leaders who replaced them with individuals who paid bribes. This, he noted, goes against the PDM guidelines.
Nyakahuma highlighted Kahungye Sub County as a particularly problematic area, urging political leaders, the technological team, and security personnel to help in combating this vice.
His warning underscores the government’s commitment to fighting corruption and ensuring that public funds are distributed fairly to those in need.
