Is Our Fight Against Corruption, a Genuine One ?

Well, on an early Sunday morning, I woke up with a very terrible degree of pre-contemplation and contemplation about our fight against corruption in concert. Recently Looking at the nude elites marching on the streets as a move to show their resolve, resilience and relentlessness against corruption took my mind to a pause. A vivid temporary batch of thanks goes to them for their boldness whose genuineness I think will be a case of questionable longevity. Well, how genuine is our fight against corruption? Are we being discriminative in our fight against corruption? Whether it’s a biased run against corruption, only time will tell! Recently, the State House Anti Corruption Unit burnt fuel from Kampala to Rukungiri district through a number of districts to arrest “the most corrupt primary school head teachers” for reaching a consensus with parents, for them to contribute “a few coins” for their children’s survival in the sense that the government hasn’t expeditiously facilitated the sustainability of the so called UPE schools! Bravo to all the state and government agents who have done their best to practice the poaching of corrupt domestic animals and leaving the political wild animals dancing in the game parks! Well, Uganda is a body that has so many infections including the cancer of corruption that is at so many stages ranging from one to four. Treating those infections at an early stage would be somehow expeditious in the sense that you can’t eat your cake and again have it! So when corruption at any level favors you, it becomes a connection and when it favors any other person, it becomes CORRUPTION? When your father who’s a headteacher influences the process for your brother to be a teacher, it becomes a connection! When your father who’s a curate is favored by his highschool OB and gets appointed to be an archdeacon, you say it was the power of a “Gamba n’ogu” but when Muhoozi appoints his only son you say its corruption! No please, let’s wake up in concert and front our bold and concrete shield against corruption! But who appoints these most corrupt legislators? Isn’t it the electorate? Can’t the electorate disappoint them? Well, thanks to everyone who has continuously raised his voice against corruption in a genuine manner. Lately, the Gen Z to where I belong have boldly pointed at the August house describing it as the most corrupt institution. Here, my question resounds, who appoints those corrupt animals in the August house? Instead of parading nudity, mere street noise, and other questionable modes of operation, can we wake up in arms, and sensitize the electorate to cast a determinant vote by showing them how important their vote is? Maybe that would oust half of the corrupt legislators if the voters knew the value of their vote other requesting them to resign which is close to an impractical possibility. Like prof. Spire once humorously put it, we shall either use genuine means to fight this cancer of corruption or else we shall all be corrupt and be happy together.
