Kyambogo University’s Vice Chancellor Prof. Katunguka has called upon NTC Kabale’s Teaching staff for Academic upgrade as the College prepares to teach Degree Courses.
The Vice Chancellor of Kyambogo University Professor Eli Katunguka Rwakishaya has encouraged the Teaching Staff and Graduates of National Teachers College, Kabale to upgrade their studies and Academic documents if they are to place themselves in a position to teach students pursuing bachelor’s degree studies as the College looks forward to becoming a Campus for Uganda National Institute for Teacher Education, UNITE.
Professor Katunguka made these remarks today during the 12th Graduation function of National Teachers College, Kabale at the College grounds in Nyakambu Cell Southern Division Kabale Municipality. As a total of 2,306 Students graduated in various Academic disciplines offered by the College. He clearly explained that there is a lot of over crowding in the lower sections of Undergraduates levels of Certificate, Diploma and Bachelor’s Degree, and hence forth a need for upgrading in their Academic qualifications in order for them to be be recognized as giants of Academics for such opportunities as per the the guidelines of UNITE.
Professor Katunguka also thanked UNITE for the supporting the College through provision of furniture, buildings to ensure that they have a better learning environment together with support from National Council for Higher Education and Ministry of Education and Sports. He also thanked Parents for sparing whatever they had for the Education of their children by saying that ” educating children gives them confidence to fight for their rights. “
He further encouraged Graduates to continue having thirsty for knowledge and upgrading their studies and Academic documents plus acquiring Entrepreneurship Education skills because they will help them to sustain their standards of living among their earnings from their teaching Profession.
While representing the Chief Guest, the Minister for Education and Sports who doubles as the First Lady of the Republic of Uganda Janet Kataha Museveni in her speech read by The Commissioner Admissions, Scholarships, Students’ Affairs in the Ministry of Education and Sports, Muzamir Mukwatampora thanked the Development partners who have worked hard tirelessly to improve the Education status of Uganda. She also thanked Kyambogo University for their continued support towards continuity service delivery to the society.
The First Lady Kataha Museveni through her speech further called upon the Graduates to execute their skills with enthusiasm on top of moral integrity and values plus having soft skills of working with people surrounding them in addition to motivating them.
While addressing the Graduation audience, the Principal of National Teachers College, Kabale Ms. Annet Komunda asked the Graduands to use the wealth of Knowledge , skills, values and experiences acquired during their learning time to match the needs of the 21st Century as they embark on their professional journeys because these assets will be invaluable.
The 2,306 Graduands of the 12th Edition of the National Teachers College, Kabale Graduation function came from different Academic disciplines offered by the College such as Diploma in Education Secondary both humanities and Sciences, Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Diploma in Education Primary both Humanities and Sciences
