Nicky’s Care for Africa foundation extends Scholastic materials support to Kabirago Primary School in Rubaya Sub County of Kabale district.
The Head Teacher of Kabirago Primary School, Alexander Byamukama, has called on all education stakeholders to collaborate with NGOs like the NiCA Foundation to support schools in fostering development and enhancing academic performance.
He made these remarks today during a donation event organized by the NiCA Foundation, with support from friends in the Netherlands at Kabirago Primary School in Rubaya Sub County of Kabale district. The items donated include exercise books, mathematical sets, pens, and pencils, soap and sanitary pads to girls of 12 years and above to foster their hygiene.
Byamukama highlighted that many parents face significant challenges, making them particularly vulnerable, whether due to financial hardships, lack of resources, or other difficulties. He emphasized the critical role that partnerships play in advancing educational opportunities and outcomes, particularly in under-resourced areas. He further expressed deep gratitude to NiCA Foundation and its international partners, underscoring the positive impact that such contributions have on the school’s ability to provide quality education.
He added that the collaboration between NGOs and local educational institutions is vital for fostering development within schools thus encouraging other stakeholders like local businesses, community leaders, and government agencies to join forces with organizations like the NiCA Foundation.

Speaking at the same event, Noah Mubangizi, a board member of the NiCA Foundation, challenged parents to consider enrolling their children in vocational studies after they complete their Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE). He emphasized that many young people today are unemployed because they focus solely on obtaining degrees and pursuing white-collar jobs.
He urged parents to rethink the traditional path of education that prioritizes academic degrees and white-collar professions, hence advocating for vocational training, which equips students with practical skills that are in demand in the job market.

Meanwhile, Yvonne Verhagen, the chairperson and founder of the NiCA Foundation in Uganda, explained that their primary reason for coming to Kabale was to address a significant need they identified in the rural areas. She added that the foundation aims to promote good hygiene practices and provide education to more children, responding to the urgent needs of the rural population in Kabale.
Verhagen emphasized that the foundation’s efforts are driven by the community’s demand for better hygiene standards and improved access to education for children in these underserved areas.

Kabirago Primary School, established 23 years ago, is a Church of Uganda-founded school, aided and supervised by the Diocese of Kigezi. It has a population of over 500 pupils.
