Ven. Buteera calls for Respect of Marital vows among Couples.
Ven. Stephen Buteera, the Archdeacon of Iryaruvumba Archdeaconry under Muhabura Diocese, has challenged married couples to respect marriage virtues. He revealed this at the wedding of Brian Harindamukama and Merone Harindamukama, which was held at Kikungiri Archdeaconry in Southern Division, Kabale Municipality.
Preaching during the wedding service, Ven. Stephen Buteera warned married couples against focusing on minor things that could lead to marriage breakdown. He cautioned them to avoid rumors and having affairs, which also lead to marriage separations. He expressed concern for couples who don’t want to move together in public, urging the newlyweds to shun those habits and focus on loving one another.
Stephen challenged married couples to respect their spouse, regardless of their physical appearance, social status, or economic situation. He further listed five ways a partner may feel loved:
- Some people feel loved through physical touch.
- Some people feel loved by words of encouragement.
- Some people feel loved by acts of service.
- Some people feel loved by spending quality time with them.
- Some people feel loved if they receive gifts.
These five ways of feeling loved are often referred to as the “5 Love Languages” concept, developed by Gary Chapman. Understanding which love language your partner speaks can help you show your love and care in ways that are most meaningful to them.
