The Vice President of Uganda Jessica Alupo Applauds St. Ignatius University for Hands on Project as a tool for bringing the Country to Middle income status
The Vice President of the Republic of Uganda Her Excellency Retired Maj. Gen. Jessica Alupo has applauded the newly Inaugurated St. Ignatius University for Championing hands on project as a vital tool for bringing the Country into a Middle income status
Maj. Gen. Alupo made these remarks through her speech read by the Minister for Tourism Col. Tom Butiime who represented her physically in her absence at the function of inaugurating the University plus installing of the First University Chancellor and Vice Chancellor respectively. The event took place today at the University Grounds in Rushoroza Cell Southern Division Kabale Mu icipality. Colonel Butiime explained that these hands on project will ensure innovation and creativity among the students hence bringing to them a bright future just like the focus of the University.
Through her speech further more the Vice President further asked the University Stakeholders to embrace and prioritize Industrialization and values addition and pledged support and collaboration between the Government of the Republic of Uganda and St. Ignatius University.
During their address to the audience present at the University grounds, The newly installed Chancellor who doubles as the Ordinary Bishop of Kabale Diocese Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira and the new Vice Chancellor Rev. Fr. Associate Professor Maxmilliano Ngabirano, all emphasized the need for hands on projects and courses with focus put on Agriculture and Tourism studies as the main and only way of solving the rampant cases of unemployment among the Youths leaving various Universities and other institutions of higher learning in Uganda today.
St. Ignatius University which started last year on 31st August when they received their license for operating as a Private University and opened for it’s first semester on 8th January, 2024 currently has a total enrollment of 170 students and Eight (8) fully accredited programs plus UBTEB Vocational courses.
