Child Trafficking case of a 13 Years Old Girl has Emerged in Kabale District.
The territorial Police in Kabale has registered a case on Aggravated trafficking in children and aggrevated defilement of a 13 years old girl, a pupil at Kicumbi Primary School, a resident of Nyamirindira village Kamuganguzi Subcounty in Kabale district.
This act occured on 12/08/2024 at around 12 pm at Nyamirindira village in Kabale district and Rwakashende village, Kyanamira subcounty in Kabale district. It was reported at Kabale Police Station by Joshua Musinguzi a male aged 21, a Councilor of Kyanamira a resident of Kangazo village in Kabale district.
The suspects are Steven Tumanye a 33yeard old businessman of Kashamunyoro village, Kitumba subcounty in Kabale district and Judith Ahimbisibwe Aa female aged 41, a peasantof Rwakashende village Kyanamira Subcounty in Kabale district.
It’s alleged that on 12/08/2024, at about 1200hrs, suspect A1 Steven Tumanye went to Nyamarindira village, Kamuganguzi sub county Kabale district looking for workers, he came across the victim at her parents home whom she convinced to employ as a maid and promised her better monthly pay.
That the victim accepted and was trafficked from Nyamarindira village, Kamuganguzi sub county Kabale district to Rwashende village, Kyanamira sub county Kabale district, where she went without notice and consent of her parents and started working as a maid. Upon reaching, Tumanye showed her the household chores to do and also told her to stay with his sister A2 Judith Ahimbisibwe which the victim accepted.
That on 13/08/2024, suspect A1 went at the home of A2, (Rwakashende) in the bedroom where he found the victim and again promised her better pay and that later he will marry her.
The victim said that, while in the bedroom, he began caressing and romancing the victim whereupon, he removed her knicker and eventually had sexual intercourse with her when A2 was outside. After which he went back to his place in Kashamunyoro village.
Later on 15/08/ 2024, the suspect went back at Rwashende at about 1400hrs, and found the victim home alone, he convinced her to enter the house and eventually had sexual intercourse with her. Then On the 19/08/2024, he went with the victim to Rwashende trading centre to buy local brew (omuramba), that upon seeing them, residents asked Stephen whether the victim was his new wife but Steven claimed that the victim was his biological daughter.
The residents got concerned and were not convinced with his explanation, they called the area chairperson who also alerted the reporter about the new girl on the village.
Upon interview, the victim revealed that she went to Rwashende to work as maid and was not a biological daughter to the suspect, she also revealed how the suspect has been having sexual intercourse under the pretext of promising her better pay.
And on 21/08/2024, The reporter together with area chairperson arrested the suspects together with the victim and later called police for further management and the case was registered.
According to the Kigezi regional Police Spokesperson Assistant Supretendant of Police Elly Maate sai that, Police registered a case file of aggravated trafficking and aggravated defilement vide CRB 632/2024 that was opened to investigate the matter,The scene of crime was visited by D/SP Hakim Mukama (District CID Officer), SOCO and other SGBV detectives amidst obtaining other relevant statements of witness, exhibits and arrest of suspects in Police custody as inquires are still at hand.
