Police in Amolatar District have 8 suspects in Custody over assaulting Ministry of Local Government Officials.

The territorial police in Amolatar district are investigating a case of Assault on officials from the Ministry of Local Government while on duty Felix Adupa Ongwech and Emmanuel Nyalo Decox at Acii Health Center center III.

It’s alleged that on the 24th July 2024 Hon James Olobo Dubai & other officials from Ministry of Local Government came from Kampala for inspection tour of infrastructures funded under Local Government of Amolatar District under financial year 2023/2024, that is, Acci Health center III. On arrival at the facility, three men emerged from an unfinished building at the health center of which two came and attacked Adupa and another one attacked and assaulted Decox Emmanuel and ran away, they allegedly boarded the standby motorcycles which was waiting for them an indication that it was a planned move.

One of the victims (Adupa) identified one who of the ridders as Moses Ocen Obua. They later continued with inspection and immediately reported to the police. A case of assault was registered, the scene of crime was visited and documented. Statements were recorded from witnesses who were at the facility on that day and other independent witnesses who saw and heard the suspects plan to commit the offence. PF3 was issued to the victims for medical report.
Later on the 29th July 2024, 8 suspects were apprehended to support in investigation that is Patrick Otim, Umar Waduzi, Vincent Tulagga, Bashir Odongo, Said Olima, Ambrose Opio, Andrew Mayanja and Joshua Opio Joshua Alia’s Opio Abetty. Suspects parade was conducted and Adupa identified one Opio Joshua Alia’s Opio Abetty as the one who assaulted him.
Two suspects Umar Waduzi and Vincent Tulagga were exonerated by the complainant. The remaining suspects were seen drinking and planning to commit the offence together at Kayago landing site.
Ocen the alleged rider was also arrested on 31st July 2024 and upon interrogation, he denied to have participated in the assault. One victim that is; Decox Emmanuel has not returned the issued PF3. Meanwhile for Adupa the PF3 classification of the injuries is Harm.

According to the North Kyoga Police Spokesperson Supretendant of Police Patrick Jimmy Okema said that, all the suspects were released on police bond upon providing substantial sureties. The file is yet to be submitted to RSA for perusal and legal advice. And that they are yet to understand the motive of the attackers.
